October 27  Gottingen, Germany   KIM Secondhanden

Next up, a few shows organized by Axel Kustner, a fabled blues photographer, record collector and veteran member of Germany’s “blues mafia”.  KIM is, indeed, a secondhand book store with a secondary specialty of hosting cozy acoustic concerts. October 28  Hannover, Germany   Gaststatte Zum Stern

The back functions room at this classic German tavern with the century-plus history will the venue for a interesting program  SJ does a live set.  Axel Kustner takes over to spin priceless pre-war platters from his bottomless collection.  Couple rounds of that should satisfy even the most insatiable blues fan.  zum-stern-andreas.9gg.de  49 511 2158208  or contact Axel as per above.

October 29   Adelebsen, Germany   Zum Schwulmetal

Live concert sets at another venerable old bar; this one in a town small enough that the address (Lindenbergsweg) doesn’t have a number.  Another first visit. gasthaus-schwulmetal.de   Axel for tix/info.

October 30  Jena, Germany   Panoramagaststatte Schelegelsberg

The show here (Oskar-Zachau Str. 6) starts at 17:00hr… that’s 5pm!  SJ reunites with another old friend and bearer of the blues flame in Germany in the form of Volker Albold, a name long familiar to artists who have toured this part of the world. Contact him for tickets/info: [email protected]

The concert at this multi-faceted culture center starts at 7pm, arranged by musician, producer and radio presence Esa Kuloneimi, who bears the title of “Blues Minister” in a city that hosts, among other things, the oldest blues society.  Reservations and info:  www.malmitalo.fi
